From 4 to 9 October 2026, the International Bar Association (IBA) Annual Conference took place in Copenhagen, Denmark. As one of the largest and most influential gatherings in the global legal community, this year's conference brought together more than 5,000 legal professionals from over 130 jurisdictions for more than 200 sessions and networking events covering cutting-edge topics including M&A, asset management and dispute resolution.

Julia (Kainan) Zhang and Jennifer (Chunyu) Meng, partners of Haiwen & Partners, attended the conference on behalf of the firm. Throughout the week, they took an active part in a wide range of sessions and networking events and held an intensive series of meetings with leading law firms and partners from all major jurisdictions across Europe, North America, the Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Oceania. The discussions centred on the practical needs of Chinese enterprises expanding abroad — outbound investment and M&A, offshore financing, commercial partnerships, compliance and dispute resolution — with a particular focus on collaboration mechanisms, responsiveness and service standards in cross-border matters. By strengthening ties with existing partners and getting to know new ones, we added new nodes to Haiwen's global cooperation network.
