Ryan Ren is a partner at Haiwen & Partners. He has extensive experience in the areas of capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital investment, foreign direct investment, securities and corporate governance. With his pioneering legal thinking, Ren specializes in representing clients in complex domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, acquisition of listed companies, joint ventures and cross-border restructuring.  

Ren joined Haiwen in 2014, and was elected Partner in 2019.  Before joining Haiwen, Ren worked at another prestigious law firm for several years. 

Ren has provided legal services to many issuers and sponsors in the securities offering and subsequent financing in mainland China, Hong Kong and the United States, and also provided legal services to domestic and cross-border transactions of top multinational companies, Fortune Global 500 companies and well-known Internet technology enterprises.  Ren has extensively and actively represented domestic and foreign investment funds in minority equity transactions and has accompanied numerous founders as well as their startups in equity financing, restructuring, and subsequent IPOs.

Ren has been named as a “Rising Star” of 2023 by China Business Law Journal (CBLJ).

Ren has advised on a number of representative deals including Unifrax's acquisition of shares in Luyang which has won the “Cross-border Deal of the Year” of 2022 by China Business Law Journal (CBLJ), Diageo's acquisition of shares in Swellfun which has won the “M&A Deal of the Year” of 2019 by both the China Law & Practice and the International Financial Law Review (IFLR), Wanda Film's material assets restructuring transaction which has won the “M&A Deal of the Year” of 2019 by China Business Law Journal (CBLJ).

Ren received his LL.B. degree from the University of International Business and Economics in 2011.

Ren's native language is Mandarin, and he speaks English fluently.
